To prevent mold in the wet pallet, I put several copper pennies under the paper around the edges. The copper prevents mold from growing.
Also, I'm cheap, so I buy sponge air conditioner filters for the sponge and parchment paper for the paper. I get a pack of 200 papers already 12x16 size . Amazon.

Thank you! I'm a design student at my local college, but not familiar with painting and taking a course right now in painting- I must have missed this tip because I kept running into this problem and wasting so much paint and never felt I had time to blend it good. While watching this I realize I had some of this paper that came in my course kit! Thank you so much, this will help me out for the rest of the semester!

I'm going to get a wet pallet.Up till now I've used small containers with lids and stored them in the refrigerator. That also works for me, an 80 yr old gran!

I’m excited to start your 2024 class. The one thing I have the most problem with would be mixing my colors to get the right color I need. Clouds trees and shading is what I’m hoping to learn.

How much peroxide do you put in the water to soak paper & sponge in?

I am a relative newcomer, but I love Jed's style of teaching. He is easy to understand, and he does explain things for us all. Thank you.

For me the Masterson stay wet palette is a God send. However I use a sheet of glass over the sponge so I can more easily clean off the paint I no longer need leaving a fresh area to mix the next color. My MSWP no longer seals a well as it use to so I also place a small sponge on top of the glass before closing it up when done painting.

I have that palette paper and love it. I can leave for a week and still have fresh paint.

I’m disappointed in the new sta wet palette boxes as I used to be able to place the box on top of the lid. Now, you can’t, it’s all wobbly.

Getting ready to use acrylic for the first time, have never touched them. Actually it's painting for the first time. I've drawn for years. I experimented many years ago, had all the equipment, and someone came along and stole all my art supplies. Haven't tried since, but I want a medium that can cover some area. I draw with colored ball point ink pens and it takes for ever to do anything large especially large areas with one color. I had oils but acrylic seems simpler, I don't want to start getting hung up on all the oil paints stuff, maybe later. Your videos are what I need, thanks Jed.

Thanks! I quit using mine because it would get too runny. I will try it again. :)
