I had to unclog a toilet at a rental home.
There were 3-foot and 6-foot closet augers at Lowe's. I chose the 6 foot one - why go halfway with a stubborn problem?
The first effort had no result. I said, "let's try one more time"... and it was still clogged. Then about 30 seconds later, the clog broke open and the water rushed down the pipe.

It's a great feeling to get something like this solved in less than 10 minutes, and save at least a hundred and fifty bucks over having a plumber do it... and now you've got the tool on hand in case this problem comes around in the future.
So THANK YOU to Travis Larson for showing those of us who have to deal with this stuff how to get it done successfully and quickly.

Great video especially the wet/dry vac, I worked inpatient psych for years and the usual culprit in our drains was the small travel-size shampoo bottles! We had a children's unit and the kids were notorious for flushing them. Drove maintenance crazy but I don't think they used a vacuum to retrieve them. Brilliant!

Something I never see people bring up but my toilet when its clogged, it has like barely any water in it. Most tutorials assume that the toilet is super filled up. But when I flush the toilet it just flushes normally and doesn't overflow.

ya tried everything except the vacuums and taking it off... my auger also wont go down the toilet only about 8 inches im so confused

So I had a very stubborn clog, that lasted since yesterday. I tried everything I had on hand, chemical granules, liquid gel, dish soap with warm water. I even have a metal wire that I used in the past to unclog and it usually worked for more superficial clogs that were right in the toilet, but this one was not that. This one was deeper, so I had to pull the rubber piping from behind the toilet, in order to see where it''s actually clogged, but I know filthy water will come out of it, so I had to find something to catch all that radioactive water and my tip is: Trashbags! They are flexible, so you can get them in the very tight space behind the toilet, they hold water (if they're good quality) and you can just throw them away once you're done. So I did just that, managed to not spill a single drop of water from the pipe on the floor, which I am actually really proud of and manually removed the clog which was sitting right at the start of the pipe, where it bends towards the sewage pipe.

Thanks! Got it fixed. Ended up having to remove the toilet. Was hoping for a toy or toilet paper. Sadly that wasn’t the case. 🤮

Help! I’m trying to plunge but water is going back up the flapper and I’m getting zero suction through the trap. What is happening?

After turning water off and drain out all water, add dish soap and a gallon or 2 of hot water. This should drain after about
half hour. That is if it's just tp and waste.
