Before you add the new user to the database, you have to do the verification if the user does not exist yet. Because otherwise, the logic will crash with an exception about double email addresses, since they are the primary keys.

Hi Kolibrizas, thank you so much for taking the time to reply and explain it. I made a mistake in my first comment. What I wanted to ask was why put the business logic in the controller? Because if you look at sites that explain MVC they say to put the business logic in the model. The controller is basically just the one who is responsible for intelligently navigating the user to the intended views. Or maybe there are many versions of MVC. I'm not sure cause I'm just learning it now.
