Industry standard is that they won't change out the engine under warranty unless it uses more than a quart every 1000-1200 miles. Even some Toyotas have this problem.

Just pull out some spark plugs in the seller's driveway. Sure. No problem. Especially on the ones where you have to remove the intake manifold first. Easy peezy.

If someone comes to buy my car and tries to pull off the ignition coils and remove the spark plugs we've got a problem. You're free to drive, look at, go under and test anything you want but with all the scams with guys distracting you and spraying oil somewhere to get a lower price you're not taking apart anything. This would be insane. 😂

So much oil leaking that adding oil will keep the rest of the oil clean.

My first car I bought which was old as me burned oil and stalled at stop lights. All for one payment of less than $1000. Seems like these are premium features today in some brand new cars. 😂😂

Luckily I did not go for the Volkswagen 2.0L engine that is known for oil burning. My 1.4L turbo has been excellent with no notable oil consumption.

💯 my 20 year old Hondas that have been very well maintained from new, don't burn any oil in 5000 miles!

I always search for Scotty Kilmer and the make and model of a vehicle before I make a car buying decision.

All internal combustion engines burn some oil. I had a 05 Corolla that the manual said it is normal to burn a quart every 600 miles depending on how you drive.

GM has used the 1Qt/1000 miles is normal for over 30 years.

Scotty Scotty. What does Toyota say in their TSB’s on oil consumption? A quart every 1, 000 miles is normal now which is asinine but they and other manufacturers are sticking to this new madness in thinking. You could basically run out of oil before your next oil change. Crazy!

My 5.7 litre Chevrolet LS1 V8 powered Holden VY SS Commodore burns 2 litres or 2 quarts every 10, 000 kilometres or 6000 miles which is normal according to Holden.

They had a problem with them when they were first fitted in 1999 due to a bad batch of pistons where the Teflon coating prematurely wore off which caused piston slap & excessive oil consumption so any engine which burned more than 2.5 litres of oil within the 10, 000 kilometre service interval qualified for the rebuild under warranty.

Someones VT Series 2 model Holden Commodore burned 4 litres or 1 U.S. gallon within the 10, 000 kilometres service interval which got rebuilt which fixed the problem !

Try remove just ONE single spark plug from Chevy S10! It would require at least removing a wheel and fender shields. The rest of spark plugs can be removed by either lifting or dropping an engine.

My '75 C-20 is dripping a few drops after it's parked. I'm not planning on doing anything with the rear main seal. Why fix it if it ain't broken?

Scotty, in the late 20th century, Fords had a reputation of burning a quart every 1, 000 miles. My 1991 Escort did it almost from Day One! That 1.9 SEFI is Bulletproof!!!❤😊

You have a toyota that runs? The four I had did not burn oil either. They spent more time in the shop than actually being driven. So never had a chance to find out if they did or did not burn oil. I will never own another toyota or honda ever again.

He forgot to say, put your finger around the inside of the tailpipe . If it is wet or black with carbon, it burns oil . And that the buring of oil could be a PCV valve that is stuck and needs replacing !
