My family the LeLacheur’s have been on the island since at least the 1600’s. I’d be curious of my ability to get a permit.

Having close ties or family means ZERO in trying to get local market status. I know people whose family go back generations who have not been given it and even families from Alderney and Sark want to move the few miles across are not allowed. However if you know a deputy they'll be able to get you a licence at the drop of a hat as an essential worker, like their gardener or someone to iron their socks.

Hey Ross!! Slightly off topic but can you do a video on L’ree hotel and why it closed down? I used to have family holidays there about 30 years ago. I was gutted when we returned and it had closed 🥹 we are heading back to Guernsey in two weeks, I’ll look out for you 😁

In addition, after 7 years, you are a Guernsey resident and no permit required.

I have a question, I'm from mainland England. Lets say I visit, but decide to take a local job, but have no fixed address to live, can I stay. Is there any restrictions that could stop me?

I can't move to Guernsey, even though my dad and half siblings are local - my dad is not on my birth certificate sadly. I had interviews for jobs but sadly couldnt take them. I will just have to continue to visit yearly instead :)
