I don't understand why people assume we eat bacon and eggs every day for breakfast. We eat cereal, we eat toast, we eat oatmeal, we eat grits. Things that are fast. Assuming we eat bacon and eggs every day is a stereotype. We do eat breakfast like that from time to time, and maybe there are people who eat it every day, but I doubt it is in any way a majority. If you ate like that every day, you would be sick.

Bacon and maple syrup, peanut butter and jelly, and fries in a shake, are all examples of combining sweet and savory. It's just something we like here.

Seems like her whole food list is not understanding balancing sweet and savory, which is a pretty basic food technique.

American people definitely will dip their french fries into a milkshake, but the majority of us don't do it. I feel like it's one of those things where it's not surprising if one friend in a friend group does it, and equally not as surprising to have someone in the friend group raise an eyebrow and say it's weird.

Yeah. The stereotype that we ALWAYS have like bacon and eggs is ridiculous. If we even eat breakfast, it's generally toast, English muffin, bagel or just a granola bar.

Been to the UK. Will never trust the British about food! 😊

I think its interesting that this French lady is saying Americans only eat bacon and eggs for breakfast and not sweet food. But i've heard criticism from other Europeans that claim Americans are strange for only eating "desserts" for breakfast. By desserts, they are refering to pancakes, waffles, cinnamon buns, donuts, sugary cereal.

Frosty and fries is an American thing, but it's a by person thing; like putting banana peppers on things.

Iced drinks are fabulous! Especially when our temperatures get above 100 degree F.

I definitely get my $$ worth in the Summer here in Houston when I get free refills of Iced Tea. When it's SO hot and humid, Iced Tea REALLY hits the spot and I drink it up!! 🤣

Most people don’t need huge breakfast like that. It’s mostly a Saturday or Sunday thing most of us have toast, coffee maybe some cereal some oatmeal

The ice thing has a lot to do with how unbearably hot our summers can get compared to Brittan or the EU in general.

Lol. You guys don't do as much ice because it's not 110 degrees in the shade with 100 percent humidity levels 🤣. Normally in warmer weather conditions, as long as a beverage is chilled in the fridge, I'm perfectly happy with that. I'm personally not a huge ice fan. But dear Lord, when the temperatures and humidity get over 85 degrees, one can literally die from the heat. Especially if you are outside and there's no shade. The older I've gotten, the more sensitive I have become to the heat.

Mid 50's old American....dipping fries in a Wendys Frosty or shake is deffinately a thing..been doing this for over 40 years

I discovered dipping fries in milkshakes at McDonald's when I was about 6 or 7 years old. Once I did that, I've done it ever since. If I've got fries and a milkshake even now, decades later, I will dip at least a few of them before eating. I think they are delicious. When I was a kid, I thought I invented that.

I think the "doggie-bag" concept started a long time ago when people would feed their dogs table scraps instead of regular dog food. The doggie-bag allowed people to take home those scraps. Since then dogs started getting their own food and the doggie-bag turned into a me-bag for a late night snack.

We have larger portion sizes in the US. We don't want to over stuff ourselves, so we take half the food home with us. Sometimes we'll give it to a homeless person. No reason to waste the food.

Oh, fries in a Frosty is definitely a thing! Wendy's even makes reference to it on their web site and in their app. Sometimes they'll even run a deal where if you buy a Frosty, you can get fries for free (or vice versa). Not everyone does it, obviously, but it's a known combination.

Her pronunciation of maple syrup is a damn sight better than my French, but still pretty funny.

I feel any European that wants to come spend the whole summer in the southeast will gain understanding and appreciation for loads of Ice and free refills. There's a reason why it traditionally is more prevalent in the southeast our summers can be pretty brutal and in the more recent past it was basically a sign of hospitality to provide for your guest who may be dehydrated and hot in the time post electric refrigeration and pre ubiquitous air conditioning....

I used a public bathroom stall the other day and I was thinking about this complaint about the crack in the door. Someone else came in and I didn't get it. Yeah I could see them but only a tiny sliver. Not even enough to make out who it was if I knew them. If they wanted to see me they would have to put their eye up against the door crack.

She says it's weird. What weird is the fact that she's looking at people in the stalls.
