“Seasons” written by Reina del Cid
Candy Apple Red album out April 29

Here's the second installment of the Candy Apple Red live in studio sessions!

"Seasons" is a little love song I wrote way back in my college days and have been wanting to put it on a record for a long time. Having grown up in a town (Fargo) that experiences both the harsh realities and joys of the changing seasons, it's strange to now be living in a place where one barely notices whether it's the dead of winter or the end of July. Seasons have always been important to me---they're a way of marking the passage of time, cataloging experiences, and charting the evolution of relationships. This song tries in its own little way to capture how love between two people can change and mean different things throughout different eras and settings.

This session includes all the same players you saw last week with the awesome addition of our friend David Feily on guitar, who adds so much soul to this version of the song. I'm so lucky to play with all of these monster musicians.

Credits:
Vocals, guitar - Reina del Cid
Electric guitar - Toni Lindgren
Electric guitar - David Feily
Violin - Ernest Bisong
Keys - Joe Peterson
Bass - Andy Mark
Drums - Nate Babbs

Recorded and mixed by Jason McGlone

Lyrics:

In the blazing summertime
when your night is darkest
I’ll be the fireflies

And when August’s passed me by
you’ll be the changing colors
in my September sky

If you go skating in the park
I’ll knit you brand new mittens
to keep your fingers warm

And when the trees call back their green
you’ll watch me planting flowers
beyond the front porch screen

When the sun forgets her place
I’ll be the aloe vera
on your burning face

And when the daisies die away
you’ll be the falling leaves
beyond my window pane

When the frost has chilled our days
I’ll get the patterned quilt
that your grandma made

And when April brings the rain
you’ll pull me close and hold me
until the lightning fades

Sweet song made sweeter with Toni’s soulful double stop melody in the background. These two women are the real deal.

Hey Reina.👋 So proud to have you and your lovely, talented friends as a part of my Sunday morning routine. Beautiful song... so peaceful fresh, and clean. Very cool that all these musicians had a moment to shine individually as well as a group. Happy Easter Sunday morning. I hope all of you have a wonderful day.
Cheers!

Stephen "Esteban" Paul sure knew what he was doing with his little beginner guitar and lessons package. It is fantastic how far Reina has come from that humble beginning.

If Wilco, Dire Straits and Pink Floyd had written a song together, it would have been this one. What a masterpiece!!
