Dilla was an incredible producer. My favorite track of his is Workinonit. It's such an eclectic mix of hip hop, samples, and synths, he was ahead of his time.

I think it's worth pointing out, anyone who likes Dilla's drums, Splice actually has a whole pack of Dilla's actual drum samples called 'The Fantastic Sounds of Jay Dee AKA J Dilla'. So anyone looking to revive a bit of that boom bap, you can get Dilla's drums direct off Splice.

Now whether or not you can pull off the off-beat, off-the-grid rhythms that Dilla cemented his greatness for, that's to find out for yourself. Just figured I'd share that his drum samples were very accessible for anyone who did not know.

Earl, Donut of the Heart, Life, and sunbeams are my favorites from him
the Dilla bounce and grooves were crazy
him and bsterthegawd inspired me to try and experiment with velocity and moving things off grid
I really like these types of videos I would definitely like to see more of this style!

J Dilla is not Hip Hop's "greatest producer." In fact, he maybe hip hop's most overrated producer. All this praise but where are all the instantly world renown bangers?
The average person outside Hip Hop would probably not even recognize a J Dilla beat.

🤔No doubt Dilla was great, but the greatest producer will always be Rick Ruben🔥
