everyone always talks about his snare drums and I do agree the drums are ALWAYS phenomenal, what really sets Dilla's tracks apart from others to me is his amazing baselines and effortless sampling. No one cuts voices as naturally and fluently as him, and he is a talented musician and keyboardist so he would make baselines a lot on his synths, and my god this dude just has ears of an angel. These beats are insane

There should be a vinyl release for this one. Surprised there isn’t. Some of his best on here. Hope they keep streaming out Jay Dee records even way after his passing. Keep the legacy alive !

I was just listening to “Ahmad Impresses Me” at home right now and suddenly a police siren started sounding in the street, starting over every 8 bars. Almost on time with the beats. Goosebumps. I had to check it wasn’t an edit of the song or something. I love when things work out :)
