How to Grow Majesty Palms || Majesty Palm Care - Ravenea rivularis

Majesty palms, Ravenea rivularis, have become a very common tropical houseplant in the U.S. Growing majesty palms indoors isn't always so simple. in this video I cover care for majesty palms including: light for majesty palms, watering majesty palms, fertilizing majesty palms, majesty palm pest and majesty palm troubleshooting. I also talk about picking out healthy plants and how to repot majesty palms. How to grow majesty palms indoors isn't so easy for the average conditions in most homes. When grown as houseplants majesty palms need a lot of light, water, humidity and warmth. Growing majesty palms can however be very rewarding as they grow quickly and add a supreme lushness to inside of the home. Often times majesty palms will grow well indoors but have some discoloration on the foliage from lack of humidity, if the grower can get passed that then it's not that big of deal, but if one wants a perfect looking palm that is easy to grow indoors then I would suggest a kentia palm. Kentia palms are much more expensive but they are practically fool proof, slow growing (so they can remain indoors for many years) and very aesthetically pleasing for the home and garden. With majesty palms liking consistently moist soil, fungus gnats can be an issue. Adding a few inches of sand on the top of the soil can help a lot with that issue, but you'll have to water the plant slowly as to not disturb the sand and make a mess. Mosquito dunk granules are supposed to help also but i've noticed a big improvement when using that method. I also wanted to add that while a Majesty palm can likely do alright for a period of time in lower light it is not ideal for longevity and having a nice looking proportionate houseplant. Oh, and keep the foliage clean, they are dust magnets!

Thank you for confirming the light issue! Just got a nice bright light for mine. People have been saying they don't need a lot of light which is already sus but then researched further and articles said number one reason for my problem was not enough light. Ugh haha
