These comments are weird. I didn't go to school in Florida, but I graduates in 2015. Everyone had backpacks. Besides books, what about homework, lunches, paperwork, folders, writing supplies, maybe phone chargers, change of clothes, etc. Backpacks are useful

We did not have backpacks when I was in school and we did just fine. I carried a purse in high school and carried my books in my arms.

I graduated back in 2008. We couldn't carry the backpacks around school. We had to buy a mesh bag with the school logo or carry our books.

The state of Florida should do this year around mandatory.. this makes parents hold themselves and their children accountable as well as the teachers and staff also being safe in the work place.... it's ridiculous that it has come to this but for any parents whom disagree keep your shooter at your home with you

I am in my 8th decade on earth, so I did not have these backpacks--in fact, outside of the military, I don't think anyone used anything like that. Some kids tied up their books with rope or other material, I knew of but never saw (at the time) book satchels, while most of us just carried the stack of books in our arms. It seems to me it was in the 1970s when children started carrying bookbags and backpacks, but most still just carried the books and the brand-new invention, calculator (huge) by hand. The biggest jump in backpack use, of course, came with the fashionability of hiking and climbing. Very soon after that, one saw people with big, overstuffed backpacks--people who most definitely appeared to be the type Chris Rock would tell us considered books a kind of kryptonite. The young people who actually go to school, don't seem to do anything but talk on mobile phones all day about sex-related topics, fight, and get stoned--the result being prison or something like that TikTok "Project Better" video where the American youth say that "Lance Armstrong was the first man to walk on the sun."

when I was in school we had to have mesh or clear backpack and now no backpacks in some states soon all will be walking naked because you can still hide stuff in places you least expect, I use to work in a shelter I would do intakes you be surprise how many weapons and drugs were found on the body from shoes, socks, panties, bras inside hair even some in so call daily journey, we find knifes tazers, drugs . we even found a handgun inside of a makeup bag it was hidden under kotexs when I asked the other lady helping me she said it was just a purse full of kotexs I said did you still open and check under sure enough a handgun in makeup bags it was a medium size makeup bag full of kotex was hidden underneath
