ADI PART 3: PDI delivers a lesson on Roundabouts

The PDI has planned and will now deliver a driving lesson on Roundabouts to his trainer, playing the role of the pupil.

Hi Howard, just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate these videos especially at an uncertain time like this, they are so helpful to watch. My part 3 test is supposed to be late July don't think thats likely to happen, but i'm not prepared as before the lock down i was only 4 weeks into my pink licence and I feel that I have many gaps thats need filling, if only I had you as a trainer I don't think I would be as stressed and anxious as much.

I've watched 20minutes so far and unfortunately have to say that PDI wouldn't score on a few first competencies. For example you suppose to gain an agreement with you learner by asking him open questions, not telling him what you gonna do. Client centred lesson doesn't take place then. Many orders given, not many open questions asked..

Are you allowed to pull over on the part three? If let’s say the student is doing roundabouts and they were about to pull out in front of someone? What if they had a meltdown on the roundabout and they asked you to take controls over? Got my part three coming up and I’ve got a student and she’s quite anxious. She drives OK but she struggles with roundabouts particularly meeting traffic.

The videos are very helpful but im just curious that every pdi take longer than 3 minutes for briefing . As far i know we only have 3 minutes so how would that work then ?

Why is this PDI not looking to the right for any oncoming vehicles, as we see he is letting you do all the work?
