Here i share with you my understanding of articulation in jazz. I tried to make this video as short and informative as possible. This tutorial is for classically trained clarinetists, or people with some training, but willing to know more about this jazz clarinet playing. I plan to make a few tutorials on this topic, as well as jazz improvisation and more. So stay tuned.

Totally agree. My examination is often of combinations of 2, 3, 4 or more notes slurred, depending on the contour or content of the idea or motif. The ghosted notes are prevalently enclosed within these note groupings and again often, but not always, dependent on contour. Great synopsis and demonstration in your video!

Thank you for this video, I am a returning emptinesser adult musician, I have always loved jazz but never really got to hang of it, I am one of these musicians who needs notes on a page in front of my eyes to play, I never learned to improvise or use grace notes maybe because I don't fully remember or understand transposition and cords.

This was so helpful thank you! I had no idea that you could pulse your fingers on the toneholes like that, but I am going to practice.

Great video. Any more jazz clarinet videos you want to make would be welcome! "Detache" sounds like a very useful concept that I haven't heard covered in any other jazz lesson video.
