Professor Floretta Boonzaier is from the Psychology Department at the University of Cape Town and runs the the Hub for Decolonial Feminist Psychologies in Africa with Shose Kessi. Floretta began the conversation of the day by asking; "what does a decolonial African Feminist Psychology look like in practice, what does it offer to students and the broader Higher Education community?". Her talk briefly laid the foundation for what the dialogue would explore.

Her presentation was part of the symposium on 'African Psychology, African Feminisms, African Studies, Black Psychology, Black Studies and Black Feminisms' co-hosted by the Hub, the Transdisciplinary African Psychologies Programme at Institute for Social and Health Sciences (ISHS) at the University of South Africa (UNISA), the UNISA Research Unit on Men and Masculinities, and the Violence, Injury and Peace Research Unit at the South African Medical Research Council.
