Who Am I?
I am a Management Consultant in real life but in my Bootlosophy channel, I make videos about boots and all things boot-related. This channel posts reviews of boots, unboxing of new boots, and follow-up reviews, and in doing so, may explore the philosophy of the brands from time to time!

I have owned boots for decades, but to be honest I have owned them as functional pieces of footwear. It wasn't until early 2020 when COVID struck that I started online shopping for boots to an obsessive degree. I love the aesthetic of boots and I love finding out more about how they are made. I now own an insane number of boots, and one day I may sell some of them (just not right now).

I agree with your bootlosophy. Anyone who cares about the leather cork leather combination superiority probably has more than 10 pairs of heritage boots which makes longevity redundant. Those 10+ rotating boots will basically never wear out. It might be 10 years before even needing a reheel. You have to worry more about being able to break in all those boots which could be never if you have 50+ boots. Poron is fine if you have a big rotation.

I have the Thursday Vanguard in Horween Indigo Chromexcel. Out of the box comfort. Really love my Thursdays

I have a pair of these in Horween Indigo CXL, which is simply gorgeous leather. I find myself often gravitating towards these as a daily boot for the office, fits nicely in the 'office casual' environment and offer a great colour contrast. Super comfy from day one, and seem to be well constructed, despite a single missed welt stitch in one of the boots. I agree with your opinion on them, they are a solid value for the price point.

This is a fantastically accurate (from my experience with a pair of captains) review of the last and foot comfort. The toe box being mildly uncomfortable has been my experience.

How good is it to see another Aussie talking about boots! I have been wearing boots for over 25 years and didn't know there was such a big fuss about them. What I have learnt is that RMWs offer a certain style and fit and if that doesn't suit you, like me, well, bad luck. Also there are lots of boot companies out there that make very nice looking boots that will fall apart on you after just a year of heavy wear. (Not RMWs though - they just wouldn't fall apart no matter how hard I tried!) Then along comes Thursday Boots - good looking, hard wearing and fairly priced so that you can buy a couple of pairs to give them a rest and change up your look when you want to. I have found that all boots have built-in compromises (even Mercedes cars do!) and the guys at Thursday seem to have gotten the balance of their compromises just about right, for me at least and certainly for the price. Thank you Teik. I enjoyed watching your video. You are a man of many talents!

Great Video. I bought the captains and will need to try out the Vanguard. I believe that particular boot is made in my home state of Arkansas. Blessings!

Since you have both the Captain and the Vanguard Thursday's Boots. What is your opinion about the long term comfort. I know that tough, durable boots are hard to break-in, I wear a Pacific Northwest style of Boot daily and the break-in was challenging but worth it. I really do appreciate how comfortable and well fitting they are now. How do your Vanguards compare in long term comfort and durability? I'm not interested in out-of-the-box comfort. Thanks. Great boot reviews, among the best I've seen and I'm surprised you don't have more followers. Good stuff!

Hi Teik. Thanks for this and I enjoy your content! One thing I’ve noticed with a couple of my seconds pairs, is that the quarters can be misaligned. When looking straight down on your boots, this can be noticed when examining the quarters and eyelets. It appears that might be the case on your right Vanguard boot, but it’s tough to tell on video. Nothing others would notice, but I’ve found that can be a reason, versus just stitching or scuffs, etc.

I wore my pair today. I love how you can absolutely beat the crap out of this leather and it recovers very well. Your pair are a bit darker than mine. Probably from your leather treatment. I do wish it was a leather insole. It's funny how many compliments I get when wearing these boots in comparison to all my more expensive makers.

A quick question. I have a very narrow foot (B/C width) and have a hard time finding boots narrow enough for a good fit because so few boot companies produce narrow size widths. That being said, you have both the captains and the Vanguard so I wanted to know if one of the boots tended to fit more narrow than the other. Thank you for your time and I enjoy watching your videos!

I've been covering a pair of Diplomats in this leather. It really is quite lovely

So you replaced the laces? Cause when you go onto Thursdays website they use leather laces for the vanguards.

Great video, thank you. I would love to know what your favorite boots are out of your 70 boot collection. Maybe a top 10 is on the horizon?
