my wife has severe cataplexy, her eyes do the same as yours, daily (we call it "crazy eyes" lol).

My late husband had narcolepsy - he had a hypnagogic hallucination that I was a tiger one evening and pushed me out of bed 😂. A fond memory actually, we had a good laugh about it. Best wishes to you.

I don’t have narcolepsy but I experience this very often

There is also a terrifying thing that happens to me several times a week called “Sleep Paralysis.” I’ll fall asleep within minutes

Do you (or anyone posting here) have recommendations for doctors in Texas who specialize in narcolepsy treatment? I’m looking for recommendations for someone needing more than what their pulmonologist is offering.

Fellow narcoleptic here.. idiopathic hypersomnia specifically
Alcoholics experience this, when their brain shuts down and takes REM sleep while awake. Delirium Tremors. I WENT FROM 0-REM IN 9 MINUTES AND STAYED THERE ALL NIGHT. DO YOU PERSONALLY HAVE TO SLEEP 6 HOURS OR LESS? Too much REM sleep gives me some kind of hangover.

Pretty remarkable that you seem to be a successful scientist with narcolepsy. I always ended up getting fired from any job I had. The lapsing in and out of various stages of consciousness throughout the day was always too much for anyone to handle. Stupid disorder ruined my life. Poor and lonely as hell.

Have had this and have N. On sleep study I had rem in 30 second mark. Not asleep until 60 second mark on one of the MSLT naps.

How did you figure this out? I’m having symptoms just like this and I’ve crashed 3 times this last week… lost my drivers licenses, lost my job… I’m going to neurologist but I can literally just fall asleep and start dreaming instantly.

Mine : REM 1/2 of one minute they said for me ; I have N with C ; hypnagogic hallucinations only happened a few times around when i was first diagnosed (24 years ago)
by the way, still looking for a better way to manage symptoms -orexin supplementation via fermented foods is my current kick.
Anyone else have any ideas related to nutrition ? tired of taking meds

I have hypnogogic hallucinations too... But, i have partial aphasia, as well... Meaning, i don't think in imagery (not often, anyways). I usually tend to think in concepts. My dreams are conceptual for the most part too. (Emotions feel enhanced as well)... So my hallucinations tend to be auditory rather than visual. I'll hear voices of people who aren't there, traffic sounds while sitting in my bedroom, music that isn't playing... I found out about it by chance because i heard my MIL voice, and said to my husband, "Why is your mom here?" He was like, "What? She is?" I said, "I heard her." We checked, and nope... The kids were asleep, the house was silent and empty.

I started paying attention to these instances more. Looking back, it seems so obvious... Why would a train whistle sound when we live nowhere near train tracks? But in our dreams, we don't question odd things. And since we forget our dreams quickly, often I'd be like, "That was weird.." and when someone asked what i was talking about, I'd forget and be like, "Oh.... Ummmm.. IDK... I just remember it was weird..."

Narcolepsy is a trip. And sometimes, it's freaking scary.

Wait what! I have that happen to me sometimes, that’s insane — I have narcolepsy too so makes sense.
