The difference between the two is based on the engine size. The 2012 BMW xDrive35i is powered by a turbocharged 3.0 liter inline 6-cylinder engine. Power output is 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft. of torque. Fuel economy for the smaller engine is 16 MPG in the city and 23 MPG on the highway. But the real bad boy is the xDrive50i which is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0 liter V-8 engine. This motor produces 400 horsepower and 450 lb-ft. of torque. Fuel economy is 14 MPG in the city and 20 MPG on the highway. Both models are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

On the inside of the 2012 BMW X6 the driver is bathed in ultimate luxury. The seats and many surfaces are covered in soft Nevada leather. You can choose between brushed aluminum trim which looks modern and sporty or dark bamboo wood trim which gives a luxury feel to the cabin. The front seats are multi-way power adjustable with a heating feature. A DVD player is available for the rear occupants. BMW has a sophisticated Navigation called iDrive that is standard on the X6. Finally an optional high end 16-speaker stereo system called Logic7 can be purchased.

The BMW X6 comes packed with tons of safety features to keep you in control of the vehicle at all times. The run-flat tires are reinforced and allow you to drive up to 150 miles. The standard rearview camera makes it a breeze to back-up but also keeps pedestrians safe by allowing the driver to see what is behind him. The Dynamic Stability Control is a computer controlled system which corrects any loss of traction or wheel spin to the AWD system. The 2012 BMW X6 is the ultimate luxury SUV in terms of both performance and technology.

The TwinPower Turbo means twin scrolls in a single turbo not twin turbo. BMW used twin turbos in there N54 engines. Now they use N55 engines which has a single turbo but has the same power output as the twin turbo with greater efficiency.

That's a good call, and I do love the FX50. You actually CAN spec one out to about $76k!

I'll let BMW know that its press materials and websites are all wrong.

From BMWUSA (their US press site): "The X6 is available with a choice of twin-turbocharged engines. The X6 xDrive35i features BMW’s TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter twin-scroll turbo inline-6 with 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. The X6 xDrive50i features BMW’s 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 with 400 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. Both models feature the new 8-speed Sport Automatic transmission."

The I6 uses a single twin-scroll turbocharger... the V8 has twin turbos.

Exactly, it is Twin "Power" Turbo, look at the word "power" carefully, it does not have two turbos, I know its very confusing and I do not blame you for getting it wrong....

The "TwinPower Turbo" utilizes a twin-scroll turbocharger ( Single Turbocharger) which was unveiled in 2009 with the N55 and N74 being the first engines to use this technology.

nope, its single turbo ( Twin Scroll), do a bit of research on Google

Straight from BMWUSA.com

"400 horsepower 4.4-liter, V-8 engine with TwinPower Turbo technology"
