Great list, you definitely know your stuff! Some key ones I would add would be:
Keystone Kapers, Pressure Cooker and Starmaster from Activision
Phoenix, Joust and Solaris from Atari
Montezuma's Revenge from Parker Brorthers
and was Adventure really not on this list or did I just miss it somehow?
On to your next 40 and I'll see how many of these showed up on that one!

Great list!

Freeway was awesome as a kid, and the cooperative/dual play is a nice touch. Oh, the prototype of the game used a person, and guess what it looks like when hit?

I got Solaris in 1987 and really stretched the hardware to a very respectable level. So much with so little, though some games did include additional RAM on-chip...

Now Mangia... a creative classic, but it ain't $7.49, LOL.

I was trying to think of the games I played the most as a kid, and Megamania, Seaquest, Demon Attack, Pitfall and Tutankham all come to mind. Adventure and Asteroids were early favorites, but we played them to the point of burnout, so that by the time we had a decent selection of games, they were mostly neglected.

Thank you for including Megamania. Lots of people neglect that one and I don't know why. It's easily one of the best Atari 2600 games I ever played (If not _the_ best). With eight stages of enemies that work differently, the game has a lot more variety to offer than you usually see on the system.

This is a video about must haves for the 2600+ but some games you didn’t include because you use a Retron 77 to capture them? Why not wait until you can capture with the plus? Also, Juno First does work but good look finding a copy or Beamrider for less than $60
