I just bought a 64gb 16" M1 max for 2600 new from B&H... something important to note is you CAN still get the old versions new, just from retailers rather than straight from Apple.

Many people forget that for example rendering a video is often a very small part of the whole process of editing videos. So it really doesn't matter a lot whether rendering takes 15 or 20 minutes when the total time editing the video is several hours. Besides you can do many other useful tasks in your life while waiting for video to render

For me it comes down to this analogy. I'm currently driving a really beautiful 600 HP sports car (M1 Max). I use it to go run errands, occasional road trip (obeying the speed limit of course), etc.. I love it because it's the fastest (and sexiest) car I have ever owned. The latest model just came out!
It's a 900 hp beast (M3 Max)! Now the question is, do I really need the 900 HP beast for the exact same use? In that context, I just don't see trading in the paid for 600 HP car. It does everything I need it to do with plenty of headroom.

Would love to see some comparisons using Davinci Resolve with:
- Magic Mask
- Temporal NR
- Spatial NR (fast, quality and enhanced especially)
- Speedwarp
- Superscale 2x enhanced
- relight

These are quite GPU intensive and may show quite a huge difference in Playback and Render speed.

Congratulations really!!! As a 3d artist, I watched hundreds of videos and nobody could get the blender test right. this is it!!! You tested the right version of blender on a beautiful scene, you compared the metalRT support with and without, this is golden information. I searched for dozens of hours for this. you are great, I found the answer I was looking for! Thanks for a very good review and great content ☺

Best real-world testing video comparison I’ve seen. I sometimes get caught up with all the benchmarked scores, when in all reality, I never do that super high-intensive work or play games. I currently have a M1 Max, 64 gigs of RAM, and a 2 TB hard drive. Thanks for a great video. I now follow your channel!

Hi 18 months ago I purchased a refurbished 16" M1 Max MBP with 64Gig of Ram, 4TB internal blazingly fast Hard drive and could not be happier. I can't see myself needing to upgrade this computer ever unless it fails, it performs all of the video editing, Motion graphics, picture processing, data base and spread sheet work I do flawlessly and fast, very fast. Unless you are really pushing the limit with ray tracing etc the M1 Max is the best value out there.

Thanks for this. I live in Italy where things are more expensive, but I just picked up an M1Max with 64GB of RAM for less than 1/2 the price of an M3Max, and I do Photography, and almost no video, so I'm super happy. I came from an i9 MBP with 32GB ram, so the performance jump from that is MUCH BETTER.

i never owned a mac (been a windows user since the early 90s) but made the decision to buy one now. 16" macbook pro m3 max with 64gb of unified memory and 2tb of storage. I hope to keep this machine for at least 8 years which is why I got it fairly spec'd out.

What about M3 Pro vs M2 Pro vs M1 Pro?

Also those 6 efficiency cores in the M3 Pro must really shine in low power mode as it’s the only one with that any.

Thanks for a thorough comparison of these three beasts! Really appreciate it. I have a 16-inch M1 Max and I’m editing Redcode RAW. I noticed that you did a test with R3D and the difference looked dramatic! I’ve not seen anyone else cover this so would be awesome if you dug deeper into editing R3D and other formats with M3 Max that are not supported by the HW encoders. Thanks & keep up the great job!

Just bought a 16" M1 Max 32gb ram with 24 core gpu a few days ago. Coming for a macbook Air m1 with 8gb ram, this thing's a dream for video editing and more. Cost me much less, but at the cost of a used battery (88% health). cost around $1800 in my country which maybe expensive compared to the US?

One thing no one really ever mentions about these macbooks is the need to replace a exhausted battery in the future. That will cost you around £250 should you need one.

Hey Created Tech, what camera are you using? I like the look in the beginning when you showed the different laptops. The colors and the look, I like it.

5:37 Do you mean there is no improvement in that particular workflow? Those are some disappointing pieces of news for DaVinci Resolve users. I like Resolve, but once you apply noise reduction and add Fusion motion graphics, the timeline playback gets sluggish.

That space black color looks sleek. I will wait until the 14 inch m3 pro next year gets cheaper in the used market to replace my M1 13 inch MacBook Pro

Which one will be better: m2 max or m3 pro?

Really an excellent video and comparison. I think it really clearly demonstrates that most people definitely don’t need to upgrade if they already have an M1, and m makes excellent suggestions on what to potentially purchase if the are in the market for one machine.
Also just want to mention I’m not even interested in buying a max, however I thoroughly enjoy your videos and learn so much - thank you ( fellow Aussie ☺️)
