The Batman - The BEST Batman Movie Ever Made? (SPOILER FREE Review)

I've been reviewing every live action Batman film for the last month. I've reviewed some from Adam West, Michael Keaton and even George Clooney with Val Kilmer. I completely all of the Christopher Nolan film and eventually made my way to the Zack Snyder films. It has been one hell of a journey to say the least and I am thrilled to say worth it too.

The Batman is a work of brilliance and as of writing this might be my favourite Batman film.

I love how batman’s first fight scene isn’t romanticized, no flashy cuts, no overpowering score. Just him beating up the thugs and you can see everything happening

The opening scene captures Batman’s effect on Gotham and criminals more than any other Batman film ever in my opinion

My favorite little detail was after Gordon and batman interrogate the penguin they leave him there, cuffed, waddling. Like a penguin!

The cinematography is just incredible in this movie. So many shots where I was like “wow, that’s beautiful”. Not to mention, the symbolism behind certain shots. Just a fantastic Batman movie. Top 2 imo.

The interrogation scene where Batman is convinced Riddler knows his secret identity and Riddler is convinced that they're both working together is masterful writing. It's such great reasoning that someone so intelligent like the Riddler wouldn't figure out Batman's secret identity because he hates Bruce Wayne so much he'd never compared them to each other. My absolute favorite scene in the whole movie.

Absolutely loved this Batman series! I hope Totally Not Mark visits non-anime things more often!

You hit the nail. None of my friends or coworkers wanted to talk about the fact that even though it wasnt the message he wanted but the riddler won, everything went according to plan except the acceptance from batman.

I just really like that when he finally reaches the top of the building during the police chase, he stops, and hyperventilates. That is such a good detail _SHOWING_ the audience he's a young inexperienced Batman. I love it.

13:10 i think the city being flooded is a fantastic callback to the opening dialogue by bruce's narration, about how he feels he is the city suffering under its own weight. having both the city and bruce be baptized in the water and rebirth with new found hope is perfect.

If you're ever interested in more Batman adaptations, I would strongly advice the Animated Series from 1992. It is to many the best Batman iteration.

Nolan's movies touched on Bruce's wealth as an issue.
Rachel tells him to look past his own suffering, Falcone even calls him out for his privilege in spite of his parents being killed.
He actively becomes a criminal to better understand crime and poverty. He tells Ra's "The first time I stole so that I wouldn't starve, yes. I lost many assumptions about the simple nature of right and wrong." He eventually realized that he can use him money to better fight crime.

This movie really showed the detective side of Batman, and I loved it

Yeah that "Bruce Wayne" name drop by Riddler confused me because I thought Riddler figured it out. When Batman looked up to see the camera rolling I thought he was panicked cause no the secret was out, guess I missed that little misdirection. I hope to see it again in theaters soon! 9/10 for me!

It's one of the few films I've decided to see in theaters in the past few years and it was worth it, Pattinson's performance was outstanding, he's arguably in my top 2 Batmans of all time now, only below Bale's Batman.

Did anyone else feel like it was a great mix of Long Halloween with a feel of the Scott Snyder run a decade ago. I felt like when he was on screen, he really became the shadows. Kind of like in the Snyder comics.

As much as the third act quite literally explodes to a much larger proportion, I’m glad it still keeps the themes of Bruce’s character arc at the forefront. We see him fully understand that his actions have in part created this mess then make a conscious choice to become more than vengeance. We also get hints with the presumptive venom injection that he will still have personal demons to face in future films. It’s honestly one of the best superhero film third acts since it actually has character growth happening versus being just a pure slugfest.

Curious why no one recommended Batman: Mask of the Phantasm to Mark. It did get a theatrical release after all.

Personally, it definitely felt really long and felt like 3 hours. However, the way they UTILIZED and PACED those 3 hours felt perfect.

It’s the best for those who like the detective side of Batman, along with him being more grounded but still living in a fantastically world. I like that this one takes a different approach to films that came before and successfully did so.

That being said it wasn’t my cup of tea but I can see why people like it.
