as someone using Linux, thank you so much for taking the time to do the post processing tutorial with both Siril+Gimp.

Being a newbie to Astrophotography, I have seen many youtube Videos for much of 'devil in the details', this gentleman is excellent. He gives lots of details, step by step instructions and lots of tips. Thanks for the great info.

Really like that you show the process for bringing out the images using open source softwares that doesn't charge monthly fees

Every video on this channel is a thorough, complete, walkthrough of the topic in hand. I've learnt so much from this chap.

Game changer, THANK YOU! I spent days clearing snow off my west-facing deck in order to make one more attempt at capturing Andromeda Galaxy at new moon, before it passed below the horizon for the season. Having grown maybe a little overconfident in my backyard Bortle 4 skies, I underestimated the impact of more "local" light pollution, i.e. neighbor's driveway. I've been watching your DLSR tutorials and climbing the GIMP learning curve since starting out in AP last summer, but I was at a complete loss as to whether I could in any way salvage those 2 hours of my first perfectly framed, albeit light bombed images of the galaxy. Through trial and error, I wound up combining the Layer Mask technique demonstrated here with the Gradient Tool technique from one of your Orion tutorials. Some quick color-tuning to the Hubble Palette and I have a final image I could even consider framing - until next season. 😉 You are a gifted artist and a gifted communicator.

For learning about this stuff Nico's by far the best I've came across on the tube. They are long but they are complete. Not half done. Your not going to look about on how to do this that and the rest. It's all there in fantastic detail. The guys a class act and one of the best to learn from. From this type of content to his live events. No one comes close. Stay safe all, where ever you all are

Absolutely fantastic work here. I have been imaging for a year with some mediocre results but your step-by-step explanations are brilliant and so easy to follow. Thank you for taking the time to make and post these.

You are a god. Thanks so much for the wonderfully detailed tutorial. Generally people like to keep stuff like this a secret, I love that you are sharing this information with the world for free.

A key takeaway from the video was seeing a error with Siril . I've seen programming tutorials which show exactly how things work, making it seem easy. So when you see a simple error with the resolution it helps to understand the application being shown. Great teaching moment!

SiriL provides a pretty nifty way to stretch the image. Under the Image Processing, choose Histogram Transformation. Then, at the bottom of the histogram, there's an icon that looks like an S curve with a white gear/explosion/cloud. It's the last icon on the right. Click that and your image is auto-stretched. Just in case you don't want to do all that level adjustment in Photoshop/Gimp/etc.

This is the best video that I have sen on GIMP so far. I will definitely give StarNet a shot. I am still a newbie in this field, but I am so eager to learn more. Thank you very much for this well documented tutorial! You have just earned a new subscription from me ;)
Cheers from Montreal :)

Finally, a place where MacOs people go for astrophotography. Please consider showing the preprocessing of planetary images with Siril - it seems like it has the capability (similar to registax) but it is not as intuitive as preprocessing deep sky objects. Also seems like the beta version is buggy for planetary preprocessing but the official version works better. In any case you have great content! thank you!!
