I agree with Data as #1. It sounds easy in theory to play an android but in practice I bet it is quite tricky. He pulls it off masterfully.

Thanks for the rankings :) For me, I put troi in C ahead of chief o brien who is a D. I agree that trio was a bit annoying and useless in the first couple of seasons, but I liked her voice and the dynamic between her and riker. By season 4-7 I thought she had grown enough as a character to lift herself from the D to C. In TNG, I found O’Brien boring in almost everything. He wasn’t bad in DS9 (I think he got in better in that show actually).

"The Game" and "The First Duty" were two great Wesley episodes. "The Wounded" was an episode that really showed layers to Chief O'Brien's character.

Where would Ro Laren fit? She was continuously in fifth season and in one episode in season six and one in seven.

Along with Pulaski and Ro Laren (mentioned by other comments), I would say that Lwaxana Troi should be included. She had about the same number of appearances as Barclay and the same amount of focus in those episodes. In terms of just appearances (with no regard to importance on the episode), there's also Nurse Ogawa, Keiko O'Brien, and Alexander.

On TNG, O'Brien was a better character than Beverly Crusher?!?! Sorry, but I respectfully disagree.

I agree with everything apart from 2 things:-
1. I'd put Q higher (e.g a medium B and not a weak C) as Q was played exquisitely by John De Lancie and he helped launch the series TNG, helped finish the TNG series and, of course, introduced TNG (and thus Star Trek) to the Borg.
2. I'd put Dr Crusher into a weak C. I'd would rather watch a Crusher "detective" mystery ep (e.g Remember Me) than a Troi emotional ep ("Tin Man" being my fave ep where Troi plays a key part but unfortunately isn't HER episode - it's Data's/Tam Elbrun's) xx

Tasha Yar is memorable for leaving a big impact for her small screen time. Her death gave the series a sense of weight that it wouldn't have had otherwise. She was a big part of what made _Yesterday's Enterprise_ feel like a different version of the show. And then her turn as the Romulan daughter was odd, but she was a memorable villain. I'd probably put her on "C" behind Jordy.

A really interesting tier list to do would be the best of each role across all the series, so for example, how do all the Doctors rank between McCoy, Crusher, Bashir, The Doctor, and Phlox

Why didn’t they fire troi and replace her with guinen? Trois essential job was to be the captains advisor.

I think Geordi is great as a secondary or background character but doesn’t have enough depth to elevate himself. I found troi more compelling. He was vastly better as chief engineer vs O’Brien
