This scene is trying so hard to be deep

"Why are you better than the rest of us?"

"I accidentally absorbed energy from Kree technology"

I'm going to venture a guess that the screenwriter assumes they have "the magic".

What a weird thought process for a professor... His job depends on teaching the material to as many of his students as he can, not singling out his favorite in the most inappropriate way possible. I don't think I've ever seen a less-realistic portrayal of a college lecture

Shaking my head and thinking, "Someone got paid to write that ____"

And that was the last time she was seen in his class.

Introverts man, you gotta be careful.

If whoever wrote this scene actually knew what even halfway-decent writing was, they would have burnt this script.

He is right about one thing. Most people 99% are ordinary. Some of those if they work INCREDIBLY hard can still become successful. But true prodigy is incredibly rare

Some folks peek in elementary. Some in high school. Some peek in college, and some don't peek and or discover their true potential until they mature enough to take their life or something in it, other than themselves, seriously.

When I read "gambler" I thought Mark Wahlberg was going to be launching deep bombs 40 yards downfield without the risk of an interception.

this was a bit cringey

and stupid because he basically said to the rest of the students that they do not even have to bother because they do not have "whatever"

Marl Wahlberg has the least range of any actor I’ve ever seen

so this is what Sgt. Dignam did after he shot Matt Damon. I bet this class spends a lot of time on Shakespeare

Yup the best genius is to be born a genius. For example my sister she can take any book, look at one page at a time without reading it and memorize it instantly. She became a Registered Nurse and don’t really care to tell the world what she can really do or reveal how smart she really is.

She chooses to hide coz she doesn't want anyone to know that she is Captain Marvel.

being in the middle is not the safest place to be. If panic erupts you now have to deal with the entire crowd in every direction. the safest place is a few away from the exit.

For all the people saying “Oh a college professor would never do this, this is so inappropriate and unprofessional…”

1: It’s a movie.

2: This guy is a degenerate gambler in way over his head from all sides and is spiraling in a path of self destruction. Of course he’s not gonna act “logically” in ANY aspect of his life.
