ICE TECH Technologies Explained

Shimano’s ICE Technologies have been developed to provide the very best in cooling for your disc brakes. ICE Technologies can be found in the discs, which feature an aluminum core sandwiched between stainless steel, in the design of our finned brake pads, which further dissipate heat, and in the brake caliper’s pistons. Together, these improvements result in a temperature drop of 125 degrees Celsius when compared to an ordinary, non-ICE Technologies system. This gives you absolute control, less brake fade, reduced wear and maintained power.

Within our XTR, XT, SLX and DEORE group sets, we offer 2-piston brakes for XC-specific usage and 4-piston brakes for more technical and steep enduro trails.
