Rapamycin is synonymous with sirolimus, a drug mainly used in organ transplant as it suppresses (I should probably say “erases”) immunity. It’s also known for causing hypertension, non reversible vascular kidney damage, and for its heavy metabolic side-effects (frequently even causing diabetes mellitus).
This safety study should be interesting, provided the patients are followed for long enough to see if the dose difference keeps them free from those side-effects, as the molecule is meant here to be used for longevity.
