There is only ONE Kai'sa skin that fully uses her character design || Best & Worst Skins

To be fair, Kai'sa's base design also kinda forgets that a Void symbiote is supposed to be half of her character.

Riot made Kai'sa a supermodel in a living skintight alien suit, and so the skins team just focuses on the supermodel bit for.. well.. everything

I think two major issues with the other Kai'sa skins not engaging with her actual fantasy/design is partially a problem with her core design not actually engaging with her lore and also the larger company just wanting to make "sexy lady skin #97" to sell without any concern for if it fits the character.

Can you imagine if Marvel treated Venom like Riot treats Kai’sa? Rather than Venom being the symbiote, it was just Brock wearing different muscular outfits while the actual Venom is an afterthought?

I guess in a sense, that shows how the two are written since the other part of Kai’sa doesn’t feel like it has been explored as much while Venom basically ensures that you know there are two halves to the coin there.

Actually, now that I think about it, it might be better to compare Kai’sa to Blue Beetle than Venom. The only difference though is how we could say the Beetle on the back does still communicate while I don’t recall if we see that same interaction with Kai’sa (and if it is there, they certainly don’t draw much attention to it. Hell, again we could say Kayn and Rhaast does a better job at that than she does).

Edit: I know I said Venom at the start, but I am kind of sad Blue Beetle is flying under the radar on this since like I said in the comment, it feels like that would be the more accurate comparison to Kai'sa rather than Venom. Still, it is nice to see Kayn brought up a bit at least.

One of the really few times where the launch skin is the skin that better fits the character fantasy

i remember to read in some dev blog/tweet or something, that Kaisa was made at first to be a new kind of voidling, more agile and faster, made to mimic humans after absorbing many humans lives. But she was made also with the human empathy, so she started to see how horrible the void was for the world and decided to use her void power to fight back the matter who made her. It was like a kind of redeemed villain lore, where her base visual makes total sense and would give sense to her skins too (kda could have been a dancer from a rival band and join the group to make bangers, redeemed battle boss turned hero in arcade universe, ...)

I strongly believe that when Kai'sa was being designed, they landed on the design of Bullet Angel Kai'sa before the base skin, and then they worked backwards from that.
