Well you don't *have* to be accepted into a university to apply for the dorms. But to keep your application active, you will need to upload your enrollment letter for the next semester. For example, I submitted my studentenwerk Munich dorm application before I got my acceptance letter, but later I was asked to submit my enrollment letter.

This video is very helpful <3 Thank you so much Markus. I am currently looking for an apartment right now for the upcoming summer 2024 semester.

I’m Dushyant, a 25-year-old about to continue my master's in environmental engineering at TUM in April 2024. I come from the beautiful island of Mauritius 🇲🇺 and am characterized by my easygoing and adventurous nature. I thrive on new experiences, embracing diverse cultures, and forming lasting friendships.

As I gear up for my move to Munich, I'm in search of a long term accommodation preferably as close to the TUM. My budget for warm rent is capped at 600 euros. Fluent in English and French, I'm also learning German :') and understand some Hindi.

I've been living in a WG in Hannover, so I'm accustomed to shared living, valuing cleanliness, respect for shared spaces, and a welcoming home atmosphere.

Thank you for taking your time and energy to read this message. If this message resonates with you, please feel free to contact me.

I will hopefully start at TUM this winter semester. My problem with Studentenwerk-München was that their waiting times were mainly 3 or more semsters in their information sheets. From your experience, is that really the case or is it possible to get those apartment in a shorter time period. Thanks!!

It's actually crazy how this hellish accomodation search is just normalized in Germany, in other countries you choose the accomodation, not the other way around. Idk how this isn't seen as an emergency issue and more people aren't pushing for change, but I guess it's cause once you get something permanent then it's not your problem anymore.

Danke!!

Hi Markus,

Thank you for the content. Was very useful. Actually I am writing you regarding my niece. She just got accepted to TUM, bachelor in management and technology.
She is 19yo, from Moldova, international champion in sport dances, with no bad habits, super organized, the pride of our family and honestly speaking she is a dream of a girl.
Since you mentioned that one of the key of finding a place in Munich is to ask around, maybe you could recommend someone. Best option would be a WG, with 1-2 more girls, budget max 800 eur/month.
Do you think you could help?

Btw, I live in Switzerland and I am planning to come in 2 weeks for a couple of days to check on the places for her.

Thank you in advance,
Best regards,
Victoria

Great video! Do you know what kind of accomodations are available for exchange students for a single semester, like what options are there if I don't get a place in a dorm
