FREQUENT QUESTION: Why do we need to multiply by 1.05?
RESPONSE: We need to multiply the area of the air gap by 1.05 because of the effect of fringing, which is a spreading of the field in the gap.
The exercise says that due to this effect the area is increased by 5%, thus 1.05 = 1+0.5 = 100% + 5%
