Other question if you know staples will become low spots cant you pre finish thoses spots and let them dry to bring them leval to the larger surface so later when you fur it out your not cutting into a wider area to lower down to the low spots. Staples will crush the wood fibers and open them up at absorb more finish, so a pre flood will seal them off. So each topcoat lays flater over the whole surface, then if you've made any high spots they will knock down faster then sanding down to a low spot.

My dad used to build boats, he'd put on the fiberglass and one coat then call it done, even seen him just use paint.
I always liked the look of the wood better. Paint hides it.

Puzzling, if liquor bonds to itself in layers
Other then levling out the finnish and removing dirt or stuff that fell into the finnish when it was wet, whats the point of sanding between coats, and after its flat smooth with last coat on you can always buff out the finish to a merior shine.

Nothing is worth doing unless its done right. This boat will cut through water like a knife through air.

What sort of varnish do you use over the epoxy? do you have to wait a long time for the epoxy to fully cure before varnishing or does the sanding avoid the occasional issues found with using a varnish over epoxy. ? thanks

Nick... Im a novice.
Where do you put your feet while paddling? On the floor? Or do you make foot rests or pegs? I have never been in a kayak but desire to make one. I know eventually i will be paddling soon. I watch lots of your videos... I even got a robo bevel.
