Thank You from the bottom of my heart. I just ran into this problem. I thought that my wiring was wrong. I now have cold air coming through my vents right now.

Yesterday, I experienced an issue while replacing the thermostat in a Trane package heat pump unit. Despite having good wiring and programming, the system continued to blow hot air whenever it turned on, regardless of how I set the thermostat. The only anomaly I noticed was that the Trane RTRM board lacked an 'O/B' terminal, instead having a 'W/O' terminal, where I connected my 'O' wire. However, the system persisted in running on heat mode instead of cool mode. I am still investigating the cause of this issue.

I going home and try it now. I was install the thermostat from the old house (heatpump) to the new house gas/electric. I set it to heat, but it keep blowing cool air and pipe start frozen. I watch a lot of video to check my wiring (my wiring is correct), now I know what I did wrong. :)

Yes that is high(est) on the list of what I see, but very close are two others. 1) for heat pumps - the W wire is normally used for RVS due to just lack of orange, right? They put that in the W connection for Heating call. Instead of the O/B term. And 2) less often now as newer Thermostats Jump internally Y to W for heat pumps. Just the other day, someone had the opposite of what you saw here. They had settings set for Heat Pump for a gas pack so both the compressor (cooling) and gas heat came on at the same time! Nice video/tip!

Can you make a video for the other types of heating system like conventional forced air? This video would have been helpful it I had a heat pump.

Edit:my main concern is it runs but doesn't shut off when its set at 73 and still runs with a deferential. Not functioning normally.

It wont let me set it to 218, 0.

I have had 3 techs out and they cant get the thermostat right and mine are set up just like this except for the reverse 218. My fan wouldn't disengage but now it just runs for 20 minutes and off for 10 minutes.

I bought a whole A/C unit back in February 2019, And yesterday was my first time seeing the battery needed to be changed.
I always keep it on 78 degrees but while doing a lot of cooking I noticed it was getting hot this was at 4:30pm I went to check the thermostat and it was at 87 degrees and showing battery needed to be change, which I didn't know how to change it. And the A/C had stopped working it was 90 degrees before I went to bed. So right now it showing that's it 87 degrees with the battery icon still on and the A/C still haven't kick on.

So when the battery isn't working do this means my A/C want work, until the battery is replaced with new ones?

Im having similar issue. Im trying to turn the AC on. I set it to cool, and 70. And still hours later then inside temp shows as 82-85. Its hot inside. This is a brand new house build. Hvac is brand new. Its gotta be the hope

Having that O/B setting backwards on the Tstat for a heat pump will blow cold air when set to "Heat" and hot air when set to "Cool". I learned this the hard way!🙃
