Yep! Heat is the only way I have found to get original GM u-joints broken loose. Thanks for the video! There is only one other video I have found but they are doing it at a shop with professional everything. This is perfect for people at home.

I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado.. a 1995 Chevy S10 and a 1985 Oldsmobile wagon. I was working on changing the U-joints on the Olds wagon and it also has the plastic injected retainer ring on U-joints too just like your Tahoo.... so GM obviously been using the plastic injected method for a long time as far back as 1985.

Rookie question here, when you remove the driveshaft does the car go into neutral? meaning that will it roll? My driveway is on an incline...

Is that the 4x4 short drive shaft or the one from transmission to the rear end

Did you lift the Tahoe to remove rear drive shaft or did you just chock the back wheels?

So how long did you have that torch on it? I've had mine sitting here for 30 mins and no luck melting that plastic out.
