Sketching along The Great Wall of China!
Up early to visit the Great Wall of China! I climb the steep and uneven steps for a couple of hours in the Juyongguan section. I stop at a plateau, sit on the wall and dangle my legs over the edge.
The surrounding scenery is breathtaking - the ancient dragon-like wall weaving its way along the creased landscape, with veiny cracks and crevices streaking down the mountainsides.
Layers and layers of jagged blue fade into the distance...

Nina Cosford is a freelance illustrator based in Hastings, UK. She has illustrated over twenty published books and has collaborated with numerous brands including Apple, HBO, WaterAid, TATE, Google, UN Refugee Agency, Radio Times, H&M, Lonely Planet and Netflix. Her work became particularly well-known after she collaborated with Lena Dunham and HBO on the award-winning TV show GIRLS, which sparked a huge interest in the girl-centric zeitgeist of today. She was recently named one of the Top 20 Female Illustrators by Stylist Magazine.
She loves to travel and draws her way around the world, recording people, places and cultures. Her work is energetic, bright and instantly recognizable by the vigorous use of pencil line and brush markers. She is playful with the tone of her work, often using humour and character to connect to a wide audience.
