This was part of a program called "Beauty and Harmony", which is basically a production based on cultural exchange put on by Chinese media. Often in these programs they will have at least a few performances featuring children's choirs and Dimash adores kids so it was the perfect combination. It's not easy to find but similarly some years back he participated in a large scale Chinese brands celebration where he performed an insane version of "Memory" from CATS with children. My jaw was on the floor the whole song lol.
Re: singing live vs not singing live, I am PRETTY sure this was live but very often on the Chinese and Russian programs, in particular, Dimash isn't given the choice. Because of their very strict media and because they really don't like to risk flubs in live shows, these programs often require lip syncing of all artists to ensure a flawless performance. He does not like it but he knows it's usually part of the deal when he agrees to do many of these programs. The more important aspect is that even if he is required to lip sync on a show we know it's something he CAN do live so for me it does not matter one bit. ❤ Love from Oregon!

What Dimash did in this song was impressive: He gave the kids the spotlight! He let them open the song, accommodated themselves to their limitations, led them, played a measured solo, prepared a "bed" for the children to shine and finished by tucking them in! There may be more beautiful, more technical, more touching versions... But no one can dispute that this version warms our hearts and souls through its simplicity and commitment to little ones!
