In today's video I share the latest news out the Federal reserve which includes the retirement of the word 'transitory' and a speeding up of tightening monetary policy as inflation concerns rise.

All of this comes as speculative tech stocks are getting smashed, primarily due to fears of higher interest rates and huge negative impact it will have on stocks, particularly ones with little current profits.

Haha, I love how this is blatantly obvious to us yet the FED keeps putting up smoke and mirrors. They may as well just come out and say "Don't panic"

This may have a shocking effect on the morale of Tesla speculators, but it's also a terrible time to buy bonds.

Nice content. To me, trading the forex and crypto market is way better than any online investment 💯

I wonder how a real crash would feel like if the last few weeks already felt like 2000 :)

Great content Hamish and well researched as always. Inflation is a very scary prospect indeed especially when we're looking at the actual numbers not the publicised ones.

I remember the dark days of the 2000 tech wreck and it’s many impacts on jobs on jobs. I see a lot of people asking questions about getting more exposure to NDQ as technology is the way of the future. People were saying similar things back in 2000…. They were right but…. were about 10 years too early and the bubble eventually corrected the pricing. I think people are ignoring good quality companies for overvalued tech stocks at the moment… beware!

2-3% inflation is only ideal according to the Fed. Study economic history. In the US the greatest period of economic growth occurred with slow steady deflation and increase in purchasing power of currency/gold.

Q.E. isn't printing money, Hamish (but I'll assume you're using shorthand). It's actually the exchange of reserves for assets which restores the banks' ability to create money under the system of double-entry bookkeeping. In our monetary system, only a very small proportion of the money created is actually created by the central banks, the vast majority of 'money' is brought into existence by the creation of loans. The fear of the impact of deflation is what's led the central banks to overdo the Q.E. and this has in turn led to our current pickle.

I'm surprised everyone is talking about "inflation" all of a sudden. The price of healthcare, housing, and education has been in a secular SKYROCKETING uptrend since the 1990s. Long before all this started. But they're not included in most inflation indices. Wonder why...

If you follow the metric you are referring to, inflation has been ~10% since 2001, and the recent increase in inflation isn't all that much in relative terms.

If that's the case... where were you back in 2001?

Do you remember last year? Of course inflation will be a lot higher compared to last year…

Just wondering how a guy that was born at around 2001 knows how bubble made us feel back in 2000

Haha! Sorry but I have never heard Hamish be so overtly insulting as when he talked about the two braincells that live inside the Federal Reserve XD

How will the FED be able to hike up interest rates without the US government defaulting on their massive debt? How can they afford to pay a 4% on the 28 trillion?Any toughts on that?
