I'm compared my ps4 pro stock hdd 1TB and kingston a400 480GB.

There are 2 main differences I've noticed between hdd and ssd.
On the stock hdd, I used to click a game to start loading and I would go make a cup of coffee before I started playing while I waited for it to load.
Now I click the game and start playing damn near right away.
The second difference is that I have nothing left to do on my console because I've done everything I can think of because the damn loading times are so fast. Now I'm just bored and hoping for a new game to come out so I can try something new and exciting, and the majority of my time is now spent elsewhere because I know there's nothing left to do on the console for the time being. Everything is just... done...???

I did this over a year ago, with the exact set-up in the video, and I wish I had done it sooner. Within the last week I gratefully managed to get a ps5 and being fully honest... having the load times of the SSD (+ boost mode) made the ps5 loads time a little less impressive than they should have been. Anyone on PS4 should really consider this upgrade if they are feeling a bit of fomo.


(I try not to compare them to the SSD I have in my pc as its completely unfair and was already quicker than a ps5 before its release)

Does the ps4 pro have SATA III internally or is SATA II like normal PS4?

An SSD *does not provide much of a benefit on other models* like the PS4 and PS4 Slim because they use SATA II not SATA III. It would be a minor difference.

This is a great quality of life upgrade. As HHD age they can slow down. I suspect a new HHD vs SSD may narrow gap slightly. Either way makes no sense to buy another HHD given how cheap SSD are now.

I upgraded mine to help with load times and texture pop in. I noticed an immediate difference with textures loading immediately with no pop in when i booted up dying light 2.

Replaced the thermal paste on the CPU while i was in there and console running mucy smoother again.

These load times are insane. The Kingston a400 only increased load times for fortnite on my original ps4 by 25 seconds (1:50 to 1:25). Must be cause the older internals can't use the ssd to its full potential

Good evening, I read that some games can have problems on PS4 and PS4 pro with the Crucial BX500 while the MX has no problem, it is supposedly a DRAM problem which is not present on the BX500 example spider man / Horizon Zero Dawn, is it true
