Instructions unclear - no 5 hr powerpoint, no overly generic class safety brief and no comd visit at the end of brief to hammer home the commanders messaging regards covid and extremist groups.

Ever since listening to your podcasts and watching some of these videos I've been mapping my neighborhood in atak expanding all the way out to the city around my neighborhood. Call it a paranoid exercise of terrain analysis lol

>No battle staff to help you
You mean I'll be unincumbered by the numerous mandatory power point presentations that the fusion cell wants?

This would be good for planning an elk hunt; viewsheds, road routes and terrain.

Wait a minute, so I won't be slapped in the face with a 4.5 hour PowerPoint prior to op? Oh how unfortunate!

All jokes aside, this is probably one of the best ATAK tutorials out there right now. Really basic but covers the things you need to know in order to quickly start using ATAK. As a last resort you could show this video to a bunch of people, give them EUDs with ATAK and imagery installed and send them a data package of the mission

Great content, Destin. They didn't have anything like this back in '81. At least not that they showed us... 🛡

This was kind of crazy to watch, I grew up there, Montrose CO is a great place. Flew in and out of that airport a lot.

Just incredible. But as you mentioned really need a team to help plan, especially if you need changes mid op.

Sorry, as much as I love backpacking, I'm getting old and my feet are necrotic, but I happen to have a jacked-up 1984 Toyota 4x4 with extreme low-range gearing, so I'll just drive to the OP, deploy the telescoping camera mast with a Nicon Coolpix P1000 on top, and start taking notes.
Thanks for the WinTak tutorial though. I love tech.

If you haven't already take a look at some of the android TV boxes. You can get a lot of capability for a very decent price.

The Viewshed only considers the ground elevations, like a topo map? I noticed that your OP position below the ridge had a large number of trees of unknown height. Even if they were mesquite trees six to nine feet high, seeing through them down to the target would not be feasible.
