Building a Boost, Water Temp & Tachometer Gauge System for the Simulator

Показать описание
I stumbled across some cheap Boost, Water Temp and Tachometer gauges on Amazon recently, so I thought what the heck, and decided to try and integrate them into my sim rig.

As is usually the case with most sim-related projects, I'm not the first person to think of this, so I used a few of the guides from AMSTUDIO as a reference and then adapted them to suit my particular integration.

This video shows how I wired everything up as well as how to configure SimHub to get it all working, as well as the end result.

Thanks for this vid - I've done stuff like this on my flight sim cockpit build, but didn't know it was possible on my race sim until I saw this, and was impressed by the sketch maker for the Arduino. On the flight sim you have to make it yourself, so this is way better!

Awesome video, Will! I loved the in-depth documentation of this project and the pacing of the video. So often these little projects on youtube are either over in a second or painfully slow paced beginner level.
I'm really looking forward to all the crazy ideas the new studio will surely have spawned already. =)

Two observations. First, please refer (as you did sometimes) to pin numbers on the MOSFET. referring to “outside terminal” is confusing at best. Second, while I realize this is in no way your issue to resolve, it appears your boost gauge has three connectors. Mine has none — just a 4 wire harness coming from the instrument. ...no idea where the data signal is supposed to come from

2 years later, do you still use these? I love the idea.

I have tried to replicate this same thing before but its just too much for my brain to comprehend. If someone out there did exactly what you just did but also with a speedo and a cluster I would sure as hell pay for that fully assembled lol

Question mate - I have RPM. Guage connected to arduino nano and it says connected on simhub and the guage is on I can test manually on the stick of the guage but the needle not working again all when I click test rpm on simhub or when I try to play AC or any other supported games. Any idea for fix?

Salut tres bonne vidéo !
J'ai déjà une jauge de turbo avec un Arduino je voulais savoir si la jauge de température fonctionnait sur Assetto Corsa ? Merci 😄

the way it looks you should have a cable for power pass throught because you have 2 power inpout/output in the back of you're gauge on the bottom

For the long term, please disable that beep on the rev counter. It's a tad bit annoying and it seems to make you up-shift too early and lose time.

Remember that it's supposed to be a reminder, not an enforcer. ;)

Hello could you help me for the connection of the temperature gauge because I can not understand if you have a diagram to give me thank you

The gauges linked have completely different looking connections than those shown in the video, do they still work?

hey mate, could I ask what type and model of soldering device you using? I am looking to find all the needed tools to start making my own button boxes etc. and I founf so many tools just for soldering but I don't really know which I must choose..also, I am a complete beginner in this kind of things, never soldered anything in 33 years of my life :)
thanks, and as always congrats for your content!

I'm in series x and i need to put 3 or 4 gauges on my sim rig, i only need the illumination of the gauges what colors of the wires i need to connect ! I need also the red, black wires ? Or only the illumination one ? Or all 3, black red and the illumination one ??

I am having trouble getting my tacho to even turn on. If I go straight from a 12 DC power supply, and connect that to the battery and ground wires on the tach, it should in theory just turn on right? Or do you specifically need the transistor for the power?

With the water temp gauge, which wire do you use to give the signal to from the arduino as there are two that come from the sensor

Eventually you'll be able to sell your Sim set up and get a fully loaded MX5 cup car racing program! 😁
