Fortunate Son Iconic song of the Viet man war era. I'm 67 years old and grew up listing to all the great music of the sixties and seventies. Its great to see you keeping it all alive. Thank you

Yes, it’s cover. It was written for Motown Records in 1966 - first recorded by Gladys Knight & the Pips, and made famous by Marvin Gaye.

CCR was a southern California band, but back in that time we all called it swamp rock. They just had a sound like no one else.

CCR is one of the all time greats. "I Put A Spell On You" is really magical and hypnotic.

OH HELL YES!!!! 🙌🙌🙌 They have so many songs that I can guarantee you have heard before, you just may have not known it was by them...This song was written for Gladys Knight and the Pips, and Marvin Gaye also did it, so yes this is their cover....I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you have probably heard Marvin's version....CCR is a rabbithole you could spend endless amouts of time in! John Fogerty also has solo music that's just as equally awesome!!

I'm a 64yo black man and this is my favorite white rock band. Therefore I recommend you listen to Creedence Clearwater Revisited, Live from the House of Blues That's the live performance version of what you're listening to.The original version of Heard it through the Grapevine was done by Gladys Knight and the Pips and also Marvin Gaye did a version of this song Those are probably one of the versions know. 😎

John Fogerty ( Lead singer and guitarist) was one of the founders of CCR. He wrote “Have you ever seen the Rain?”, “Proud Mary”, “ Fortunate Son”, “Who’ll Stop the Rain?”, “, Looking out my Back Door “, Rocking All Over the World”, “Centerfield”, and “ Down on the Corner”. “ Heard it through the Grapevine “ was actually written by Marvin Whitfield and Barrett Strong for Motown Records and was recorded by Gladys Knight and the Pips, released in 1967, and by Marvin Gaye, released in 1968. Even though the Miracles were the first to record it in 1966, their version wasn’t released until 1968. While the standard versions from Motown were 2:50- 3:00 minutes long, CCR recorded an 11:00 minute version for their album, Cosmo’s Factory in 1970.
I love John Fogerty’s voice. It’s funky and unique. Down on the Corner, Centerfield, and Proud Mary are all great, but Fortunate Son is probably his most historically important one, as a Vietnam war protest song.

Here's some CCR songs, “Proud Mary, ” “Bad Moon Rising, ” “Lodi, ” “Down on the Corner, ” “Fortunate Son, ” “Travelin' Band”, "Run Through the Jungle", "Lookin' Out My Back Door", "Green River:, oh they do have more that's just a few. By the way, five of their singles peaked at No. 2. They have the dubious distinction to have the most singles reach the top 10 (nine of them) without ever hitting number 1.

Such an amazing band, John Fogerty is priceless. So many hits in such a short time it's ridiculous.
