This movie has some of the most tasty-looking junk food in animation: cheesy pizza, creamy ice cream and hot, syrupy waffles!

I know the focus is on the delicious waffles, but think about how absolutely horrifying this all must be to the married couple here: some very young, random little girl comes to their house with their stolen wallet. She is dressed in rags and telling them that she lives in a junkyard with her dog. Then she randomly disappears out the window.

One of my favorite Don Bluth movies that makes me cry every time especially because of Judith Barsey. BTW did anyone else start thinking stray dogs we're gonna kidnap them after watching this as a little kid?

I think this scene is very sad but not because Anne Marie is an orphan.

The couple especially the wife seemed to think Anne Marie knew she did a 'naughty' thing by 'taking' their wallet & thought she did the right thing by returning it, although the wife was rightfully suspicious the girl was an orphan and only 'stole' to survive.

But when she runs off it is implied the couple realised they were 'wrong' about her and that she only took advantage of them and was a 'bad kid'.

One thing that suoports this theory is that they don't seem to be worried when she's gone and think that she cleverly maniputed them to get a free breakfast as we don't see them again until Itchy and his friends arrive to their house. While they can't talk the dog's language, they probably learned Anne Marie was telling the truth and they waste no time trying to find her.

Luckily they barely find her alive and they adopt her to make up for ever doubting her and that they should learn there's two sides to every story.

It's not the point of the scene literally at all, but I can't help but laugh at the comparison between my frumpy sweatshirt-wearing ass dishing waffles out at that time in the morning compared to Kate's flowing, elegant pink chiffon robes and perfectly made-up face. Is anyone still like this in real life? If so please tell me your secret. No fair if you're animated.

@0:12 is that Fievel's hat on the ceramic figurine? The one next to Marie on the left? Honestly it would be so cool if Don Bluth left easter eggs/references to past projects in some of his later films. But he probably never did, with most of the films being distributed by different companies.
