Singapore, Malaysia, and the International Chemistry Olympiad: A Conversation with Joyton Fu

Welcome back to Pathways! I had the wonderful opportunity to speak with Joyton Fu the other day when he came over from a vacation from his time at the National University of Singapore.

Joyton is one of the finest chemistry students in the entirety of Malaysia and also the world, having won a silver medal in the International Chemistry Olympiad in 2023 and participated in the national team for numerous years as well.

It was a wonderful and philosophical conversation that brought us to consider many different things, and you'll enjoy this conversation if you'd like to think about the differences between Malaysia and Singapore, the national budget, education disparities across Malaysia and Singapore, and the reasons that one might choose Singapore for his higher education - some other interesting things include Joyton's thoughts on studying, national service, and lots of other incredible trinkets as well.
