pomodora method is not based on a specific time specification, but more Work-break-Work-break- with specific times in place. So you doing 50mins then 10 minutes. is ALSO the pomodora technique

flowmodoro: work until you lose focus, then take a break for 1/5th of the time you worked, repeat

It all depends on your attention span. Some would need the shorter version. I prefer longer.

I remember a guy who made a video about a method that he was using, he called it the animedoro and basically it was like pomodoro but extended: 40-60 min of work and 1 episode of anime, which are normally about 24 minutes, 20 if you skip the op and end. It was very interesting! I use it a lot during my finals exams month and it definetly helps with keeping the workflow state and getting a reward in the end. If you like to watch anime or tv shows with short episodes I highly recommend you try it!😊

For me the 50/10 is good if I actually WANT to do the work I'm doing, but if its something I don't enjoy I can't focus for the full 50 minutes. Also you do realize that no matter what interval you use, if you have a work-break-work-break method it is the Pomodoro method

I think it varies from individual to individual like someone will like 25 minutes study and 5 min break but for me personally i prefer 50 min study and 5 min break just like you said

I suggest sticking with 25 minutes because after that, the focus tends to diminish. The average human attention span is around 25 minutes.

Isnt that still basically pomodoro... but a variation?

Nah as an adult with ADHD, the pomodoro technique works pretty well, I like having a time limit, keeps me from overdoing it and spending hours on one thing, plus I can time myself and make it a game so it motivates me greatly!

For me, sometimes I just need that push to get me working, and 25 minutes doesn't seem insurmountable. By the time my first break comes up, I'm in flow state and just keep working. It's really up to the individual. If I start with 50 minutes off the bat, it will seem too long and nebulous of a time and therefore it doesn't make sense in my brain. I always work well when I perceive that I have short chunks of time because it activates the "deadline" feeling. When really I am able to work much longer than 25 mins...I just had to get started without feeling overwhelmed. If that makes sense.

The whole concept is based on periods of productivity and rest. If people don't have the sense to adapt timings that suits them, then productivity is not their biggest challenge 😂

The pomodoro technique lets you decide the intervals that work best for you, it's not a dogma.

...but thats still the Pomodoro technique? If you do find yourself in the flow state, you dont necessarily have to do the timer anymore, its just a matter of finding which amount of time works best for you.

Exactly! I do mine as 1 hour work, 10 minute break.

Instead I would suggest that if you are studying some practise subject like maths or physics then use 25/5 timer as it dosenot breaks the flow, and when you are doing a theoretical study then go with the 50/10 timer ⏳

No i actually like pomodoro. I sometimes lack concentration so it gives me a time bracket to focus.

depend on the person's durability, pomodoro technique is just a start until you get what is best for you

I disagree
After working for 25 or 30 minutes brain needs a rest and after 25 minutes you get distracted more

Except it’s not more effective because there’s actual scientific data proving that it’s effective and it’s designed to help you learn things not just to get shit done getting into a flow state is not going to be interrupted by a five minute break when you’re trying to learn new informationthe five minute break is essential for your brain to retain the information that you just learned in the previous 25 minutes
