Bars and Melody: BGT Hopeful LYRICS #4YearsOfBAM

Bars and Melody—Leondre Devries and Charlie Lenehan—give their very first public performance of Hopeful at their Britain's Got Talent audition. Leo and Charlie's performance earned them Simon Cowell's Golden buzzer and a place in the semifinals.

Bars and Melody went on to be signed by Simon, and Hopeful was released as a single reaching no. 5 in the UK Official Chart. This is the original Hopeful lyrics as the boys performed on BGT, which are slightly different to the more well known studio recording.

Bars and Melody are Leondre Devries and Charlie Lenehan, a rapping and singing duo who were Britain's Got Talent 2014 finalists.

After the show, Bars and Melody were signed by Simon Cowell. Their début, anti-bullying single Hopeful came out in July 2014.

Leo and Charlie have since released further singles, their début album 143 and their Teen Spirit EP, have toured extensively across the world; and have a huge fandom, not only in the UK, but also, especially, in Poland and in Japan, where they have made two albums with Avex, one of Japan’s largest record labels.

Bars and Melody’s latest album Generation Z came out last September.

I don’t have the boys’ audition on my channel, so I thought I’d do it as a lyric video to mark #4YearsOfBAM. It seemed straightforward and a way to get views. But as I worked on it, it became more and more involved and, perhaps appropriately, it drew me back to the early days and reminded what my channel was all about. I was never trying to get noticed. I was never trying and certainly never expected it to get this big. And I was not actually doing it for the boys themselves. My motivation was to help bring Leo’s story and message out to the world.

So, now this video is done, it’s not important how many views it gets. If it’s only viewed by one person, but that person takes comfort and strength from it, then that is enough.
