YMTC’s Xtacking 3.0 puts a Chinese company formed in 2016 in the lead of the global 3D NAND Flash market. While we await 200+ layer solutions from Samsung, SK hynix, MicronTech and other industry leaders, TechInsights is currently analyzing this part. In this new Power of the Chip video, CTO Jason Abt discusses the geopolitical and technological significance of this product.

The sanctions on micro-electronics going into China actually help companies like YMTC.
They can flourish servicing their local economy without the pressure of having to compete with established (Western) players. Additionally, as a critical technology provider, they can reasonably expect state funding to help them maintain their pace of advancement.

Chinese companies will still be accused of stealing things which others don't have. 30+ years old perception is still in people's mind.

How refreshing to see a real human speaking of the technological advances in China instead of a computer generated, grammatically inverted, senselessly repetitive, barely understandable narrative. Cheers!

As electronic engineer, not being able to get western suppliers to sell chip because of no stock, I will never design again using western chips I will however use is Chinese based chips, because they available and cheap and work well....

Before the rise of Yangtze River Storage, Samsung’s hard drives were very expensive to buy. A hard drive can be bought for 430 US dollars, and the price is often raised for the reason of fire, which is very ugly. However, after the rise of Yangtze River Storage, Samsung began to buy cheaper, in order to catch up with sales, and Samsung lost nearly 40 billion in just 180 days

Bravo YMTC for coming out the most impressive rand chip given the challenging environment posed by US political sanctions. Hopefully by 2025, China will reduce its core dependency on US or western tech and move on its own on self sufficiency and promote global south trade and development. Cheers!

@techInsights isn’t Micron the first memory player to introduce the first 232 layers NAND?

YMTC, Wuhan is just like the Tiangong space station a mere 400 km above Earth's surface courtesy of Mr. Wolf of Virginia back in 2011!

As the leader of the product development team. Our innovation has bear fruits that the world has recognized. Going forward, I will develop another gram changing IC product, but in a different field - AI. But this time, I like to do it in US.

Ehm. But the quality, son, quality. It's non-existent here. For example: their QLC NANDs found in many SSDs are probably the worst rubbish ever produced en masse.
