On today’s IGN The Fix: Games,Former EA CEO John Riccitiello has spoken up about microtransactions in video games, saying what while those who avoid implementing monetization early on in the creative process are some of the most beautiful and pure, brilliant people, they are also 'some of the biggest f****** idiots'.The NPD Group has revealed that Elden Ring was the best-selling game of June here in the US. Per the NPD Group, the original statement in its report was based on an incomplete data set, which analyst Mat Piscatella elaborated on Twitter as not including the full history for all titles and platforms across physical and digital. As such, the group does not have enough information to conclude that Elden Ring was one of the top 10 best-selling premium games in US history.San Diego Comic Con is next week and IGN has everything you need to experience the con from the comfort of your own home! Makes sense. The quality of games has taken a drastic nose dive due to this kind of greed.

It’s quotes like this that make it easy to see why EA was given the title of “worst company “ so many times.

It's that kind of mentality that's made EA one of the most hated companies in the world.

That's the difference in mindset from a business executive vs. a game dev. Those at the top want to extract maximum value from its customers whereas devs care more about bringing a quality product to market for gamers to enjoy.

Exactly what I'd expect from someone in the business just for the money and likely doesn't play any actual video games.

That people, is why you don’t put a businessman in charge on a passion driven environment.

We went from full complete games, to games that needed sequels, to games that needed dlc to get the full first game before the sequel. Then guys like these made it so not only would you need the dlc, the sequels, the expansion pass, the prequel, but then if you really want that 100% full game experience, you need the microtransaction items. You know that outfit that you want really bad, you know the one with Master Chief wearing a rubber ducky pool float while carrying Kratos’s blades only they have a diamond gloss skin, it can be yours for the one time purchase of $6.99 plus tax.

Makes sense, hence the word "former" on his title

Morals and integrity are really becoming increasingly hard to find the games industry.

The irony is IronHorse produces tons of malware that hijacks browsers and infects them with ads and URL redirects. It sounds like a match made in heaven with their crass, greedy CEO, but it's the Unity devs who will suffer because Unity is one of the best engines for Indie and AA devs around e.g. Escape from Tarkov is Unity.

This is why elden ring is on track to becoming one of the best selling games of all time

It’s funny how Eldon ring a.k.a. a game that has no micro transactions is doing better than every EA game which all have micro transactions 🤔

That is a perfect way to identify yourself as a person who should never be involved in the creative arts in anyway whatsoever 😀 nice work greedy man of business, now go away.

This is why EA is EA. The top thinks like this. It's sickening for the gaming community

Corporate greed everyone. It's no longer about making a great game that sells but sucking every dollar out of the players.

Why not title him as "Unity CEO" instead of tying EA into this? Unity Technologies is falling apart because of him.

Wonder how this CEO would feel if his wife charged him $10 dollars for sexy time. Citing how the quality has improved and how sexy time takes more effort than it used too.
