For whatever reasons, recently I was trying to figure out what song has the line, "If a face could launch a thousand ships..." and thought I'd look into it. And then just forgot about it
until coming across a video featuring Rick Beato interviewing Brad Mehldau, and the latter mentioned the song by Bread "If." Not having any idea that that was the very song whose
title I was in search of, I looked up "If" by Bread, and there it was! I must say, this is one of the most beautiful and memorable songs from the 1970s. And the singer!! How beautiful his
voice is! I guess a song like this would be considered too romantic and corny these days, but it's been a part of my soul ever since I heard it--even without ever knowing its title or the group behind it! I'm surprised that there are only--as of this writing--117 thumbs up even though the video has 3.5 thousand views! This is not a "rock and roll" song, and maybe that turns away a lot of people, but to my mind this is truly a great song, a masterpiece. It will haunt me sweetly until the day I die--and maybe longer, for all I know! Thank you for sharing this, Shane. I will come back here more than a time or two!
