This is a tutorial about how to program the AWM2 elements in the Yamaha Montage workstation synthesizer. This video explores the supersaw saw wave sound as a basis for showing the capabilities of this massive flagship fm synthesizer. Again, as always, thank you for tolerating the ads and supporting more tutorials like these.

Very informative stuff, thank you.
this is exactly the type of demo that I want to see - how the user interface works, how easy it is to browse through elements and put together a new Part, how element editing works etc...please keep it up and show us as many of these editing 'snippets' as you can, I'm sure that a lot of other potential buyers also want to see this kind of videos since the guys from Yamaha are only putting out very general, non-specific demos...

Hi, I'm following your instructions I thought to the T but I'm not getting a sound past middle C. What adjustments do I need to make to get sound below middle C?

ive sussed out my dx7iid quite sometime ago, so then i bought a sy77 cos i found it cheap. with the user manual by my side im making good progression.

ive had it in my mind that i want to build myself up to the montage but after watching these few tutorials i think its not going to be as difficult to program as i was expecting.

....i guess when i get a spare $4000 i might just grab one

i think the montage has the best sound ive heard in a synth or workstation including the kronos. the montage is the closest thing to Vsts...that said, im wondering how it compare to an akai advance with omnisphere and komplete...seems that the montage wins with the super knob..this would have to be mapped on the akai somehow. ....VIP 2.0 software in the Akai is made to play like a motif or kronos or montage ..you can mix sounds and everything. it seems that the benefits of the computer are perhaps, an uplifted screen (wont hurt your neck), and equal or better sound to the Montage. the bad part about the computer is mapping were as with a synth like the montage, its easier to control parameters without mapping everything (easier to have fun). Updates on the montage could be, full finger use like and gestures like the IPAD and a raised screen like the oaysis with cooler animation! After all its a $4000 computer :-)...That said the sound of the montage is PHENOMINAL!1 second ago•

So lets say that you want to have a 3 OSC synth patch of just saws but all of them under the control of the same filter and ADSR's is this possible or do you have to set up 3 elements and copy paste the settings of element one to elements two etc...

Thanks once again! I'm really looking forward to using motion control to sequence individual waves/elements. I have seen there is a preset doing this. I am wondering how the range/depth is set to run through them, seeing as there are thousands. I wonder if you can only wave sequence certain waveforms ? It would be amazing if you could wave sequence your own imported waves!

128 Osc supersaw! that has to be a new genre, ubertrance! Don't tell the germans!

Can you have different instruments for the 8 elements instead of the 8 saws?  like a violin, cello, choir???  I know you can have only 8 parts that are controllable from the keyboard.  Am I wrong to assume that if you can add different instruments into the 8 elements or oscillators then that means you can have 8 instruments per part times 8 parts equals 64 instruments?  Whats confusing is that there are only 8 layers so one would assume only 8 instruments per performance.

So this is building one part with eight AWM2 elements right and doing that eight time per part is sixty-four elements you're hearing the keyboard play at once. That neet.
