DS9's Section 31 was so mysterious and rogue-like, modern trek Section 31 is some sort of ham-fisted mega CIA with their own ships and obvious uniforms. They really should've gone another direction with this...

Section 31 was created to ask hard questions about the feasibility of Starfleet's ideals and challenge the main characters with moral dilemmas. To the writers of "nu Trek" it's Starfleet's cooler sibling doing all the neat murder spy stuff.

Section 31 only adds grimdark and moral relativism to Star Trek to no real purpose. In many shows (Errand of Mercy, Arena) the crew only survived because they were moral. Why does anybody need black leather and an attitude to complete a mission?

Section 31 is an overused plot device that has hit rapidly diminishing returns since DS9.

At first i was concerned about Section 31 movie. The trailer didn't really much speak Trek to me and still does not. But i'll give it a try, I like S31 and i think a spy movie set in Star Trek world would be an intresting direction for Trek and Michelle Yeoh is also a fantabolous actress.
Maybe i'll give that a try.

Section 31 is meant to be bad, an indictment of the federation in it's inability to stick to it's ideals, *please* tell me the new movie isn't going to pretend they're good....
