How To Install A Trench Drain In Driveway, Storm Drain, Driveway Channel Drain for around $100.

We had a deep but narrow channel drain in our driveway and had to figure out the cheapest way to install a trench drain. We couldn't find a mini channel drain that was narrow enough to fit our 3" wide driveway drainage channel so we had to be innovative with our solution.

That looks fine and all, but you have to have a channel for the water to go after it disappears through the “concrete forms.” Brilliant idea, but the water is unfortunately washing out the base beneath your driveway (causing it to crack and possibly collapse eventually from lack of support) If it is not hooked up to piping on one or both ends of your grate. This piping should coming off the ends or end and emptying into the street to catch a storm drain nearby. This, without that piping, will end up causing another big gap somewhere where rain washes the dirt away, because that’s what rain does. Trust me, I have to deal with this around my house, living on a hill has its perks and the downsides are definitely storm drainage.

LOVE IT. personally, for that particular area, I wld not use gravel since there cld b other issues w that like the kids playing w it (not good area to play where cars r situated), tires rolling over gravel can sometimes p/u and send pieces airborne which is also dangerous. All things considered, i think this DIY is safer and less hassle as far as having to sweep back gravel bits that get dislodged.
