Thanks so much for making this video, I appreciate the detail that you made in making it, releasing those springs blind would have been a complete nightmare, however with the close camera work I have been able to remove the steering wheel off my Passat in around 20 minutes! You are a legend!!!!

For safety you should have removed the battery and allowed the car to settle for 2 minutes. Having the battery connected could have caused the accidental trigger of the air bag.

is this same steering wheel on a Passat B8 (2/2016)? I have a some problem with "noise" from steering wheel, sometimes its take a resonate sounds from steering wheel. like a something rests metal on metal or maybe plastic on metal. I dont know. but especialy it hear when I drive on a low torque/ speed.... And its most hear direct under the plastic cover with VW logo...

I have done it in my Mk7 for giving it an Alcantara trim. Was easy to do and was done in 5 minutes. The springs are pretty easy to loosen

Vieš mi prosím ťa poradiť načo je ten modrý káblik okrem čierneho a zeleného v žltom spínacom konektore. V niektorých airbagoch nie je. Chcem meniť volant v sedmičkovom golfe r.v.2016 - 1, 2 tsi . Chcem tam dať volant z gti. Má aj radenie na volante. Dúfam že to nebude vadiť. Oba sú multifunkčné.

before removing the airbag, better disconnect the battery, an airbag error may appear otherwise on the dashboard

And this is why I just ordered a steering lock. Old fashioned, but Volkswagen parts were easy to place, and thus easy to remove.
