Love this car, I spent like 1700 on a dsg/ engine tune and a downpipe and got an extra 100 horsepower. Added some summer tires and its a blast to drive. 70, 000 miles with the tune and had no issues so very reliable platform to mod if youre diligent with the maintenance.

My 7R is great! IE stage 1 with 034 intake pipe, filter, and TMD - added a Mk 8 PCV retrofit.

I definitely want to get a downpipe and exhaust and tune it further, but I'll enjoy the stage 1 for now.

i ended up going with a mk7 sportwagen instead of a gti and i’m happy with the purchase. anything that goes on a gti will go on a sportwagen and tuning is just as easy. a gti or even golf r turbo will bolt right up but probably not part of my plans

I'm so past hatchbacks. I've had many GTI. My mk6.5 GLI has a mk7 engine in a mk6 Jetta body. My lovely, not many around my area. GTI are everywhere.

16 MK7 DSG 300 HP 380 TQ perfect daily tbh I want like 400 hp tho and with a simple switch of a tune I can do that, these platforms are fantastic.
